Day 7 Fluttering Feathers

This poor little magpie wandered into our pool enclosure and couldn't
find his way out again. The board he is sitting on in the first pic is 100mm or 4' so that gives you an idea on his size and they bite really hard so the best to help him out was to open the door and chase him toward the door. You can see him free up in the tree feeling rather tied with his wings hanging down and he sat there resting for a while catching his breath.

  1. I like the third shot. Nice to see that the bird got free safely.

  2. I think perhaps you have the most adventurous life of all of us! I love the stories you tell with your shots - and I am glad this one had a happy ending. Your kids are going to be such intertesting adults!

  3. Mate, you meet a lot of animals in the bush :)
The same thing happened to me once, but then it was a hummingbird and it was also not my poolhouse and ahem.. well. Same thing. I like the second shot. There is even a horse. Lateron we will all play a game. Name 5 animals that were not in icebunny's photo's or stories :)

  4. They're not small birds either! Sometimes sparrows come into the building where we work and it takes me ages to get them out. I can't imagine what it would be like with a magpie! Great photo opportunity!! We also had a family of ducks walk into the building once (mum, dad and babies) and we couldn't get them out. After a while the mum and dad starting getting anxious and started flying into windows instead of the open doors and they also started pooping!! Nice to see the horse in the second pic as well as the magpie :-)

  6. Interesting tale, with a happy ending.

We had a sparrow fly into work the other day and it couldn't find its way out. In the end it let me pick it up and put it outside. It was still there an hour later when a young girl asked if she could take it home.

  7. I like your third shot, but the story was very interesting. Around here (CO) we have Western Magpies (also called Tuxedo Birds). They're big. They're beautiful and yes, you don't want them in a confined area.
